Reemployment Assistance Benefits

If a parent becomes unemployed, he or she may qualify for reemployment assistance (also known as unemployment compensation) from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

If a parent who owes support begins receiving reemployment assistance benefits, a percentage of their benefits is sent to the Child Support Program. The amount taken will be up to 40 percent of the benefits. The Child Support Program will not take more than you owe in child support for your case(s). If you believe the Child Support Program is withholding more than the total of your combined child support obligations, please notify the Program as soon as possible so your case(s) can be reviewed.
