Rule Title:Exemption of Property of Widows, Widowers, Blind Persons, and Persons Totally and Permanently Disabled; Disabled Ex-Service Members, Spouses
Next Step:At the August 14, 2018, meeting, the Governor and Cabinet approved the Department's request to adopt this rule. The Department will file the rule for certification with the Department of State on August 28, 2018. The rule will be effective on September 17, 2018.

Purpose:    The purpose of this rule amendment is to incorporate statutory changes enacted in Chapter 2018-118, L.O.F. The amendment to subsection (2) removes the former statutory requirement that a disabled veteran and spouse must be married at least five years on the date of the veteran's death, based on 2018 amendments to s. 196.24, Florida Statutes.
